Sci-fi action based on a novel. An alien race invade the Earth, millions of lives are lost. But they are defeated. 50 years later the humans are preparing for another war. A large teen cast. Ender Wiggin is a smart boy, maybe man's last hope. He is played by Asa Butterfield. Who by the way did a fantasic job. Abigale Breslin plays his sister Valentine. Ben Kingsley is Mazer Rackham a war hero. Harrison Ford plays Colonel Graff the man behind the International Fleet. Viola Davis is the counsellor that assists Graff. Hailee Steinfeld is Petra, a fellow combatant and love interest. They adult cast are parental figures. These are child soldiers going to war. Detailed. I admit I was reluctant to see this. It's very good. See special features: commentary, deleted scenes. Directed by Gavin Hood. If you enjoyed Independance Day, Cowboys And Aliens, Battlefield Earth. Then you're sure to enjoy this. Fantastic acting. Some humour. Plenty of drama. Stunning visual effects. Cert 12, 109 mins run time. 2013 release.

After Earth. Stars Will Smith, Jaden Smith, sci-fi drama
An M. Knight Shyamalan film. A crash landing leaves Kitai Raige and his legendary father Cypher stranded on Earth. 1000 years after the humans had left. You might like Oblivion, Cargo. I'm wondering about Jaden's accent. Producers are Caleeb Pinket and Jada Pinkett Smith. Nice little intro to the film about humans left the Earth in their ranger ships, however there were aliens living on the new planet and they sent monsters that would hunt humans by sensing the pheremones, basically they can smell fear. Cert 12, 2013 5050630451937. There are special features. There is a crew on their way to Phetos for ghost training. A good cast and specia effects. I like the design of the ship. There is a sequel to Independence Day coming next year. Crazy visual effects during the asteroids scene. Good soundtrack. Kitai must retrieve the emergency beacon 100km away. He has been given strict instructions and gadgets to help him survive. Interesting to see what Earth is like now. It's out to rent now. Please share this blog.

I remember watching the Buffy and Angel TV series. There is the Serenity film based on this TV series. You might have seen Marvel Avengers Assemble, Cabin In The Woods, Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Starring Nathan Fillion. This is a boxset cert 12, Fox TV 2002. 5039036016025 Special features include gag reel, behind the scenes, commentary plus more. I shall sell this on eBay. Sci-fi adventure set 500 years in the future. The crew of the Serenity go on various adventures in space. They try to avoid the Alliance and Reavers. I recommend the Rebel Series by Edward Robertson and books by Stephen Baxter. The series kicks off with a battle. Good piece of music. Some comedy as can be expected. There is a wild west theme to it. You might also have enjoyed Red Dwarf. The first disc has two episodes. It goes straight back to the Menu screen. Though it is in widescreen my dvd player has to be set manually. Adam Baldwin had got into some argument with black feminists on Twitter. The Ambassador is an attractive, sensual woman. Good acting and special effects. N Fillion was great in White Noise 2, Serenity, Buffy and Slither. Currently starring in crime drama Castle. Other Sci-fi westerns Cowboys And Aliens, Back To The Future 3, Westworld, Star Wars. I'm going to download the soundtrack. Region 2. It was cancelled but had gained cult status.


ItRobot Overlords A Brit Sci-fi film on DVD now. The soundtrack ain't bad. Sir Ben Kingsley and Gillian Anderson star. Seems a bit ridiculous. The leader of the robots or interface is a simulant dwarf. Cert 12. You might like Robotropolis, The Machine, Humans, How I Live Now, Tomorrow When The War Began, Chappie. The robots have invaded the Earth. Setting a curfew for all humans. This is an independent film. Smythe is a 'Collaborator' a team of folk working for the robots. I can imagine what the Amazon customer reviews will be like. There are special features. Some stunning locations. The teen girl is pretty. Would I recommend this film? I doubt it.

Saw a trailer for Robot Overlords. A good start to the film. Nice special effects. I am having to turn the volume up to hear the dialogue. There is a book called Mammoth Book Of Time Travel that I recommend. Interesting story of Jane. Transgender/Hermaphrode. As a man looks like Leo Di Caprio and as a woman looks like Emma Stone. Hawke plays a Temporal Agent travelling through time preventing crimes. He is after a terrorist. Good plot twists. Thought provoking film. I shall look at the forum discussion on this topic. It was a based on a novel. Good reviews on Amazon. I hope that you see this film.

 Star Wars: The Last Jedi Don't forget that Solo is out soon. Finally got a hold of the DVD. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac and more. Cert 12. Plenty of nods to previous films. A good amount of humour, action and drama. There are cameos. I like this film more than the last one. I will be looking forward to Episode 9. You might like the soundtrack. Multiple scenarios. Amazon reviews will often have spoilers. I like the special effects. Daisy always look beautiful. Domhall Gleeson gives a superb performance. Andy Serkis, Laura Dern. I'm sure there was a reference to Jurassic Park. Surprises are in store. Nice dialogue with Isaac's character throughout but especially near the beginning. I recommend this film. Luke Skywalker's peaceful and solitary existence gets upended when he encounters Rey, a young woman who shows strong signs of the Force. Her desire to learn the ways of the Jedi forces Luke to make a decision that changes their lives forever. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren and General Hux lead the First Order in an all-out assault against Leia and the Resistance for supremacy of the galaxy.





Self/Less  Ryan Reynolds, Ben Kingsley, Matthew Goode. Love the tagline 'God created man, man created...immortality.' Cert 12 Sci-fi film. See Total Recall, Age Of Adeline, Big, The Switch, Humans, Vice Versa, Face Off, The Cobbler, The Anomaly. Great concept and a fine cast of actors. Nice effects. Good action. I think you should see this. A rich business man at the end of his life agrees to take part in an experiment/procedure that enables him to cheat death. A group behind the company want to keep this secret at whatever the cost. Interesting soundtrack. There is the Deadpool movie starring Ryan.






Spider Man Homecoming starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr, Marissa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Chris Evans, Zendaya. Great acting and effects. Good humour and action. Peter is trying to track down a band of criminals. They have used the alien tech from the Avengers films. He is currently in high school. Abit of a origin story. Independent adventure. New characters are introduced. There are easter eggs. Some the characters have big mouths. Interesting theme song.

 I went to Cineworld Loughborough to see Avengers Infinity War. It was showing at 7pm. Obviously there would be ads and trailers. If was busy. The ticket machines were occupied. £6.50 for an adult. £7 for regular salty popcorn and Pepsi Max. It was busy. I was in Screen 4. There wasn't much choice in seating as most were booked up. I had an awkward one C6. Near to the screen and at an angle. Strain on my neck and eyes. A long film. Over 2 hours I estimated. Carries on from where Ragnarok left off. Plenty of action, swearing, violence, humour and special effects. It is darker than the previous films. Blows Justice League out of the water. Thanos is after the remaining Infinity Stones. Each controls an element. There are many characters from the Marvel universe. Lots of locations. The Guardians and Avengers want to stop Thanos and save the world. Not everyone will make it out alive. Surprised at how it pans out. I recommend that you go see it. I will watch it again on DVD sometime. The post credit scene is short.  I rented Thor Ragnarok. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Karl Urban, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson, Benedict Cumberbatch. I was impressed with the trailer. Nice soundtrack and a different theme to previous Marvel films. Impressive special effects. A funny film from the off set. There is a character called Korg that has really good dialogue. Voiced by Taika Waititi. See more of Hulk. Great banter between characters. Take a look the reaction videos once you have seen the film. Hela hath no fury like a woman scorned. Asgard is in mortal danger. On another realm The Grandmaster is holding a tournament. I like this the best out of the trilogy. This film leads onto Infinity War. I recommend that you see this.







Deadpool 2 starring Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, TJ Miller, Brianna Hilderbrand, Jack Kesy, Terry Crews amongst a star studded cast. The menu screen had a montage with Aha - Take On Me playing. It is in a vhs format. Plenty of violence, humour and pop culture references. The fourth wall breaking anti-hero is back. He is joined by his X-force. Old characters and new are included. It was an amusing film. The opening credits were like a James Bond film. The post credits scenes are good. Wade has been searching for a villain. He makes his way through the henchmen and the boss swears his revenge. Meanwhile you have a teenage mutant named Firefist. He is in an orphanage where they do experiments. He has caused mayhem already. You have Cable. Part man part machine. A guy you don't want to mess with. He is from the future and looking for someone. Domino is hot as are Nagasake Teenage Warhead and Vanessa. Expect cameos. Nice soundtrack. Deadpool really has his work cut out. They have upped the ante. Ryan Reynolds also works behind the scenes as he did with the first film. Venom is out in cinemas next month. New Mutants, Dark Phoenix, Captain Marvel, Avengers 4 are yet to be released. There are extras on this DVD. There are surprising scenes. Dupinder should have been used a lot more. Is he just some comedic Asian stereotype for everyone to laugh at? It's not Van Wilder again. Cert 15. Hugh Jackman quote on the cover. I will look at discussions and reactions.

 Antman And The Wasp
Funny start at Scott's house with his daughter. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Hope's mother and she was lost to the Quantum Realm. There is a plan to bring her back. You might check out the soundtrack. Hank, Hope and some regular cast are back. Funny scenes and great special effects. Sonny is a business man dealing with the black market. A person in a white costume turns up. Has special powers. There is Bill Foster a former partner at Shield. Luis and his two associates are superb. I like the truth serum scene. Ava is pretty as is Hope. Fab ending credits.


X-MEN Apocalypse. Pretty violent in the beginning. Spectacular effects. Starts off in Ancient Egypt then moves onto the 80s. Introducing more characters. The lady with the sword Sara is hot. As is Storm. Epic rescue by Quicksilver. Talking from the other room when I am tying to listen to the dialogue. Great cast especially Oscar Isaac. Cert 12. I remember the Sky ad. Good soundtrack. Olivia Munn, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Lucas Till, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Rose Byrne, Nicholas Hoult. Unexpected end credits scene. Bonus is a gag reel, commentary, easter egg, gallery.
Starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B Jordan, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbel. A nice alternative origin story to the previous film series. Victor Von Doom is a real bad ass. The team run by Franklin Storm are working on a teleportation system. The teens venture to the other dimension and that's where they gain their power. A Marvel Studios 2015"! release. No mid credits scene. Good special effects, acting and story. Worth checking out. I like the soundtrack which I shall download. fantastic 4



The Darkest Minds. Cert 12. Sci-fi from the makers of Stranger Things and Arrival. If you like The Hunger Games, Divergent, Chronicle, X-Men, Maze Runner, Midnight Special, The Girl With All The Gifts, The Giver, Percy Jackson, Ready Player One, Tomorrowland, Kin, The Goonies, ET, A Wrinkle In Time, Tomorrow When The War Began, The Quiet Hour, The 5th Wave then this is the film for you. Good soundtrack. Talented cast of actors. A mysterious virus takes hold of America. Kills most of the children. I assume that it grants the surviving ones special powers. The protagonist Ruby is a young black girl. Her powers make her parents lose all memory of her. She like most of the special kids are sent to the camps. She is now a teenager and a few shades lighter. She will meet others like her on her travels. She has Jedi powers. I expected some romance which is off putting. Liam is more like Magneto with his gifts. Zoom can harness electricity. Think Electro. Charles is super intelligent. You have a couple from The League. Also the soldiers from the camps are on the hunt. There is talk of a camp where the gifted can reside. Cool special effects. Mild swearing. Some violence. Amanda Stenberg, Mandy Moore, Gwendoline Christie, Harris Dickinson, Skylan Brooks, Miya Cech, Lidya Jewett. See IMDb for trivia and Amazon for reviews. Special features are included. The actor Patrick Gibson playing the President's son reminds me of Michael J Fox. It is worth checking out.

The dialogue was quiet but got louder. I did find the boy Jack annoying at first. I thought it had something to do with agoraphobia. But it is a crime victims tale. Joan had been held captive in this room for seven years. She has a son that had not ventured into the outside world. They may have felt like prisoners at times throughout the film. It is a voyage of discovery. Nice soundtrack. There is part of the Monster theme used in this. I thought the man playing Nick was Josh Brolin. You may have seen Old Boy, Shawshank Redemption, Panic Room, Boyhood, The Aviator.

The Saturday Show had a variety of milk- cows, goats, camel, donkey, raw, hemp, rice, soya, almond.

It may offend some. Ali G was based on the characters from a council estate. Nobby is another one. Great cast. You might like Paul Fieg film Spy. Poor snowflakes cancelling their Netflix subscription over something stupid.

I have a letter from Hmrc. It is regard to a Self Assessment that I did. I owe them more money than I made that financial year. My loan payment bounced so was returned. I have just made another payment. I haven't earned enough. Not been paid back. I rang back and found that it was National Insurance contributions which I owed. A sum of £136.77. Back in 2016 I worked for Berry Recruitment. They hadn't been paying NI from my wages. So that after having done a self assessment have I had to pay up. I did have two jobs with two different tax codes. Savers became my main job and I would later be fired from Berry. Guess they screwed me over. Thanks Berry. I knew payroll were fucking useless and cunts that they are.

The delivery was late. I was at the shop 4am. It was 6:20 when the truck arrived. They were then trying to park it. There were further delays in getting the cages out. I finished work 11:45am.

I should really draw some parts of the dream. On the street I hold a bow and arrow and opposite a blonde child holds an apple. A string is attached to the target from the arrow. I shoot and it hits the target. I then decide to fly up into the air. I head north. I feel thr ground under my feet but shake it off. I head into space. I then travel back to Earth. I am Jamie Oliver briefly and talking to a guy flying with me. We go onto the sea. It resembles The Little Mermaid. I see a cop car and two officers standing by. I get into an argument with two ladies. We head to the surface and it is about to rain. We are on the shores of California. I am with a brunette with glasses and for some bizarre reason a small penis appears on her face for a while. We meet her dad. The Smashing Pumpkins- 1979 is playing in my head as I type this. I remember a scene at an old building where it has snowed heavily. A lady has come to this place and the workmen are there. They treat her with respect. She gets a lift on a cart and upon returning finds that the guards at the gate are different. They apparently had been murdered by a colleague. I did want to use a toilet and pressed the flush button and small chopped potatoes are in the bowl. I pee anyway and they dissolve. A guy sticks his finger into the bowl. The scene with John Barrowman from The Five-ish Doctors is shown in ytp style. My former supervisor was looking to start a rumour about me.

I just dreamt that I am back in Savers and on the till. I served this lady. Her subtotal is £1.69. She pays by card which charges £9.05. Then I give her the receipt but something is wrong. My supervisor is on the floor next to sorting something out. I rang for my delivery supervisor. I gave the lady 1p. On the receipt it said change as £5.01. That ain't right. It got sorted in the end. There was a man asking for a giftset of sorts. Shampoo for men and women. A disable boy spoke to him. To avoid embarrassment I answered that we had separate ones in different sections. He then left. A young man went to strangers looking for shoelaces. They corrected him so then he found a member of staff.

 I dreamt that I borrowed my brother's bike. I had misplaced it when I locked it up in town. A few of my clothes were in the ground damp and covered in bugs. I boarded a train and got off at another stop. I was trying to track it down. I could leap off at anytime.

At work today and we were short staffed. It was market day and a school holiday so very busy a long queue formed at the till. I have worked at sports venues and they were busier. The manager had to go get the change order. It isn't done early on for some reason. The store looked a mess. You do get a miserable looking customer. The day before this couple had come in and I'm sure they were dodgy. The supervisor was in the warehouse and may have not heard if I rang the bell which I should have. I'm looking to find a Golddigga set which I could have sold twice and all there is but a tatty boxed one. The supervisor was braiding the others hair when it was time for me to go. I was to come in an hour later as I worked an hour over asked mentioned by the manager. So it seems like I am still owed it. In town I could hear a mother calling out "Oscar" several times. I recognised the voice. She comes into the store. Oscar is a 2 year old I believe. He may have gone running off. I hope that he was found. I am sick of this job. I have done some crap ones in the past.

I remember that I saw a large item on the shelf and so I added to it. Someone off sick. Another on holiday. The general manager doing auditing. I did buy a can of Pepsi for each member of management. I'll ignore the whining. I think psyco woman in the camouflage coat. I thought about using a computer but thought fuck it. If she would accuse me of some other shit. I have every right to be there. Though she is insignificant I would punish her if I was violent.

    In a life rich with experiences and stories, author, poet, memoirist, and activist Dr. Maya Angelou touched the lives of millions around the globe through her teachings, her writings, her voice, and her actions.
    Born Marguerite Annie Johnson in 1928, her incredible story began with tragedy when a sexual assault at the age of seven rendered her mute for five years. During those years, however, books and poetry became her solace and constant companions, eventually helping her find her voice again to embark upon an intellectual and creative journey that defies description.
    In her her teens and early adult life Dr. Angelou saw more experiences than many do in a lifetime: from motherhood, to becoming San Francisco’s first female and black streetcar conductor, to touring the world as a cast member of the opera Porgy and Bess — all while mastering several languages. She sang and danced in professional cabarets, worked as a journalist in Africa, and became one of the most prominent civil rights activists of her generation.
    The success of her first book, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” in 1969 brought her mainstream attention as an author. Six other autobiographical works followed, in addition to poetry, children’s literature, and non-fiction (even cookbooks!).
    Through her works, Dr. Angelou gave a voice to millions. She championed women’s rights and gender equality. She redefined black beauty and celebrated African-American oral traditions. She advocated against war and campaigned for universal peace.
    She was also the recipient of numerous honors during her lifetime. She became the first poet to make an inaugural recitation in three decades when Bill Clinton became President in 1992. Her vast impact on popular culture was also felt through a host of award nominations, public accolades, and more than 50 honorary degrees.
    Today’s video Doodle celebrates Dr. Maya Angelou on what would have been her 90th birthday. Set to her poem “Still I Rise,” the Doodle includes her own voice along with the voices of other individuals whose lives she has inspired, and who aspire to live by her legacy today.

    As we spend what would have been my mother’s ninetieth birthday, I think of her melodious tones speaking about the need for tolerance, understanding, forgiveness and love.  My mother’s perspective was that human beings being social animals are strongest when they are unified. She saw hatred and greed, not only as divisive, but as the forces of evil.  She recognized that unlike positive virtues, neither greed nor hatred has to be taught; they come naturally and have to be untaught in order to free their possessor of their burdensome weight and baggage.  She saw one of our greatest challenges was learning to love ourselves, then having the courage and the wisdom to love others. She often said, “We don’t know how or why love occurs. Truthfully, we don’t know that even gravity isn’t a kind of love.”  She felt that love was one of the most important emotions and was an instrumental key to unlocking the inner doors of our ignorance and fear.
    My mother’s principal message was one of inclusiveness; that despite our ethnic, religious and cultural differences, we are more alike than unalike.  She saw all our differences in language, orientation and perspective as an indication of the richness of our imagination and creativity, and as elements of our nature that we should celebrate.  She believed that we are all images of God, no matter how we look or what name we use to call upon the Divine and Sacred Being.
    She saw that the world was in need of our attention and effort; from the hunger and poverty that are present in so many countries, to our wars, internecine conflicts and indiscriminate terroristic acts, to the destructive pollution, deforestation and the reduction of the biodiversity of the life forms around us.  Our planet is crying out for help. My mother would say, ‘Don’t just complain about the problems you see and do nothing; roll up your sleeves and get to work finding solutions and remedies. We do a disservice to our children and to the future by not addressing the problems that confront us. Nor should our efforts for change be thwarted or stifled by the obstacles arrayed against us.  We must steel ourselves with courage and perseverance and battle on for what is right.” For my mother the most important virtue was courage, because without courage none of the other virtues can be practiced consistently.
    My mother did not herself go to college to pursue a degree. Although, as she rose in stature, as a public figure she was awarded Honorary Doctorates by more than fifty major universities and colleges.  She understood education was extremely important; to that end she was a voracious reader, consuming two to three books a week from the time she was a teenager until her vision failed in her eighties. She used to ask me, “Can you imagine what the world would be like if all children on earth had access to a good education and were allowed to let their inner lights glow?  Oh, we would have the cure to cancer and remedies to most of the major problems that confront us. The knowledge that would be generated by that level of brain power would give us access to the stars, to the universe as well as to our dreams.”
    My mother’s assessment of human beings was that we were neither gods nor demons, but that we carried elements of both within ourselves; that the onus was upon each of us to control the demons of anger, jealousy and hate and find the spirit of a caring and forgiving God within our souls.
